Best friends to cycle Scunthorpe to Scotland in 24-hours for charity

Pedal power will be the order of the day when two best friends set out on a challenge which will see them cycle from Scunthorpe to Scotland in 24-hours.

Cycle mad best friends Jamie Eaton and Chris Houghton, of Scunthorpe, are embarking on the grueling 192 mile ride on Friday August 30 in aid of The Health Tree Foundation (HTF) – the official charity of Scunthorpe hospital.

The duo will be setting off at 7am with Jamie and Chris departing from Sanderling Way. They will make their way to Goole, then over the water to Howden, on to Selby passing through the centre of York, passing Catterick Garrison before going onto the Dales. From there they will pass the outskirts of Penrith and onto Scottish boarder at The Old Toll Bar and Cafe Gretna.

Jamie and Chris are hoping to complete the challenge in less than 24-hours and make their mileage up to 200 miles. They chose the HTF as their charity of choice as they wanted to give something back to the patients at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

They both said: “We love to get out on our bikes and help charities, so what better way than to set ourselves a new challenge. It is our furthest one to date. We are both looking forward to the ride and are just hoping the head winds are not too bad on the day.”
