Bikers set to deliver an eggtastic good time

Children on the Disney ward at Scunthorpe hospital are to receive a bumper load of goodies thanks to the annual Easter egg run organised by Scunny Bikers.

Motorbikes of all shapes and sizes will be roaring on to the hospital site on Monday April 17 to deliver their special chocolate delights and goodies.

Event organiser Gavin Stubbs said: “Our members love to see the smile on the children’s faces. It is great to get keen bikers all together and do something for the local community. We are hoping to have a convoy of 100 bikers on the day to deliver the donations.”

The bikers will be meeting at The Old Farmhouse pub, Doncaster Road, at 10am and will set off at 11am collecting donations of toys and sweets from four local supermarkets along the way.

The bikers will be arriving at the Church Lance entrance of Scunthorpe hospital around 1pm.

Gavin added: “If anyone would like to support our annual event and donate an egg, toys or sweets they can drop them off at The Old farmhouse before the day and we will make sure they get to the youngsters on the Disney ward. There are also collection points at the local supermarkets.”

Sharon Vickers, Disney ward sister, said: “We always look forward to the annual Scunny Biker’s Easter egg run as the children love all of the goodies. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supports this event.”

There will be donation points at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons leading up to the egg run and people can pop along and donate any items before April 17. More details of the Easter egg run can be found at: www.facebook.com/groups/scunnybikers

Polypipe have kindly offered their services of a van and driver to collect all of the donations.
