More than £17,000 has been donated to local hospital thanks to charity

A local charity has donated more than £17,000 to buy equipment for various wards and departments at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

The Scunthorpe Hospital League of Friends, which was founded in 1948, has raised thousands of pounds for local patients, their families and staff since its inception.

During last year it donated a variety of items including:

·         An assessment lamp to help asses expecting mums

·         16 reclining chairs for patients using the day surgery ward

·         Two Vapertherm machines to help neonatal  Intensive care babies breathe                better

·         Dementia friendly clocks

·         A Christmas tree and Disney themed decorations for the Disney ward. 

League chairman Granville Staves said: “The whole aim of the charity is to supplement the service provided by Scunthorpe hospital for the health, welfare and comfort of patients’ and their families.

“We would like to thank everyone for their kind contributions during last year. We will continue to work closely with The Health Tree Foundation to support wards and departments throughout the hospital.”
