Brigley House Christmas lights set to light up appeal for local Hospital

A festive dancing light display organised by two local residents is all set to raise funds for Scunthorpe General Hospital’s charity.

The sensational Brigley House Christmas lights are back for the 7th year with a sparkling new show for 2018 to help raise funds for The Health Tree Foundation’s (HTF) Maternity Bereavement Suite appeal.

Event organiser, Rob Brown and his neighbour Phil Sowerby promise the Brigley House lights will illuminate Saffron Way with festive cheer, yuletide favourites and Christmas classics. This year’s show will comprise a selection of great new songs including a Hippopotamus, a Donkey and HTF’s very own mascot, Scrubs the Bear, will even be in attendance.

The Maternity Bereavement Suite appeal was launched by the HTF in 2016 with an aim of raising £150,000 to create a maternity bereavement suite for families whose babies are tragically born sleeping or only have a few hours to live.

The maternity bereavement suite will provide families with a safe place where they can spend time with their baby in private. The suite will still be within the Central Delivery Suite so new mums and their babies will still have access to the medical team but they will be far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy ward to be able to grieve in peace and to minimise the distress of the bereaved family.

Brigley House organiser Rob said: “The response to last year’s show was fantastic and helped raise over £3,000 for another local charity.

“Each year we look to support a different community charity with this year’s show donations helping the Maternity Bereavement Suite appeal at our local hospital.”

“We love seeing people from across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire attending to see the lights and help spread awareness of local charities in our area.”

HTF community champion Hayley Thompson said: “We are so excited to have been chosen as the Brigley House Christmas Lights charity of the year. I attend every year to watch their spectacular show and each year it gets bigger and better.

“We really appreciate all the time and effort both Rob and Phil have put into making this year’s festive spectacular event even more magnificent.”

The lights will be on from December 1 and the show will run daily from 4pm - 10pm, through to January 2, 2019. For more information, please follow Brigley House Christmas Lights on Facebook or contact HTF community champion Hayley Thompson on 03033 305672.
