Invite to Christmas family fun day to raise funds for hospital appeal

A festive family fun day is being held to raise funds for Scunthorpe hospital’s Maternity Bereavement Suite appeal.

The event, organised by local businesswoman Lisa Hensby who runs Baby Dinosaurs kids markets, is being held at Scunthorpe’s Redbourn Club on Sunday December 9 between 11am and 3pm.

Father Christmas will be paying a special visit to the event, and there will be fun activities for the children to do, as well as a raffle.

The appeal, which is being run by Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, The Health Tree Foundation (HTF), is to fund a quiet haven on the central delivery suite for parents who experience the tragic loss of their baby.

Lisa said: “I have been through two miscarriages myself and I know how hard it was then to be sat surrounded by happy mums to be, when all I wanted was to be happy to.

“Losing my first two babies was the hardest things I have ever been through. I want to help families who have been through such a tragedy to feel more comfortable in a private environment. I will do my utmost to raise as much money as I possibly can for this amazing cause.”

Lisa added: “I will continue to raise funds for HTF using Baby Dinosaurs children’s markets as a platform to help raise awareness of this fantastic charity and to help raise money for all the children’s departments at the hospital. I want to help ensure that when families have to use these services at our local hospital they have the best possible experience.”

HTF community champion Hayley Thompson said: “We are looking forward to working with Baby Dinosaurs on this event and to celebrate the festive season with families in our community.

“We hope to see plenty of people there attending the event and supporting their local hospital charity."
