Anyone for tea? Event in aid of Rear into Gear appeal

The Health Tree Foundation, the official charity of Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospitals, has launched the appeal aimed at raising money for new state-of-the-art keyhole surgery equipment.

The money will be used to buy two sets of specialist keyhole surgery equipment which will be used for patients with bowel conditions, including cancer, at both Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospitals.

The afternoon tea fundraiser is being held at the Pelham Suite, Cambridge Road, Grimsby, on Sunday June 4, between 1pm and 4pm. As well as a traditional afternoon tea, there will also be a live entertainer and a raffle.

Louise Salt, colorectal specialist nurse, said: “This will be the first of many events we have planned to raise money for this appeal. We are also hoping local people will back us and hold their own fundraising events to support us.”

Tickets for the afternoon tea £10 and are available by calling The Health Tree Foundation community champion Lauren Alexander by ringing 03033 304514. She can also provide advice for people wanting to back the appeal and raise money for their local hospitals. Or if people would like to know what benefits the new equipment will bring for patients call Louise Salt on 03033 304428.
