Freemasons choose diabetes centre as charity of choice

A Freemasons Lodge has donated more than £600 to the diabetes centre at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, in Grimsby.

Officer of the Lodge Vic Toulson said: “It’s such a pleasure to be helping out locally.”

The Lord Heneage Freemasons Lodge chose the centre after successfully applying for funds from the New Provincial Benevolent Fund Committee.

Diabetes nurse Donna Green said: “We feel privileged to have been chosen and it will be much appreciated all our users, both staff and patients.”

Diabetes specialist nurse, Caroline Andrews said: “We are hoping to use the money to upgrade the chairs in the Doreen Grantham Education Room which is used for a wide variety of education for healthcare professionals, patients and their carers.”

Caroline and The Health Tree Foundation, the charity for the NHS Trust that runs Grimsby hospital, are working together to purchase the chairs.
