Golfers pitch and putt for local charities

Seniors Captain, Chris Connaughton and his committee, chose The Health Tree Foundation (HTF), the official charity for Grimsby hospital and the Alzheimer’s Society as their charities for their annual golf day.

The fundraising event included a full day of golf followed by a raffle and raised a total of £500, which has been split between the Amethyst Suite at Grimsby hospital and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Peter Lancaster, a member of the golf club for over 30 years and senior’s committee treasurer for the last 17 years, said: “Each year we pick a local charity to support, they are usually relevant to our age group. I suppose you could call it insurance, hopefully one we might not need”.

Lauren Alexander, community champion for the HTF said: “We were incredibly humbled and pleased to hear that Chris and the committee had chosen the Health Tree Foundation as one of their Charities of the Year.”

“They have done a magnificent job fundraising for the Amethyst Suite and the money will be spent on granting wishes for cancer patients and to help fight Dementia through research.”

Nicola Bygott, Dementia support worker was also present to receive a cheque on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.
