"Thank you, Health Tree Foundation.
Patient-and-Family rooms meant my husband Paul could stay overnight when I had surgery. I was so glad to have him with me. Even though he snored!

"Thank you, Health Tree Foundation.
Child-friendly night lights make it easier for my daughter Rose to sleep. Even if she’d rather stay up and talk about ponies!

Staff member and former patient to take part in London Marathon
A member of staff and former patient at Grimsby hospital will be taking part in this year’s London Marathon to raise money for the department that cared for him.
Peter Harrison, assistant financial accountant, will be raising money for the cardiology department on behalf of the Health Tree Foundation – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust’s official charity.
The London Marathon, which takes place on 3 October, is one of the biggest racing events in the calendar. Last year’s event saw more than 45,000 runners take part. The course is more than 26 miles long.
Peter, who started working for the Trust in December 2016, developed a heart problem in 2017 and was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, which causes the heart to beat abnormally fast for periods of time.
He said: “I had to spend time in A&E, coronary care and had lots of appointments in cardiology. I had to have my heart restarted in A&E. I was so impressed with the care I received that I decided to give something back by raising money. I spent a week in coronary care before going to Leicester, which is a specialist centre, for a six-hour operation.
“This is the first time I have taken part in the London Marathon. I did the Great North Run a few years ago but this is much further. I have the whole of the summer to train. I do regularly run so I think I will be ready for this challenge. So far, I have raised more than £300 but I have set myself a target of £2,500.”
This isn't the first time Peter has completed a running event for the Health Tree Foundation. Previous events include the Great North Run and the Grimsby 10k.
Emma Hartley, charity community champion, said: “It is fantastic that Peter will be taking part in the London Marathon for us. The money raised will be used to enhance patient care and will make a huge difference. It would be fantastic if people could donate to this brilliant cause.”
