Town bank helps local charity

Bank staff left their uniforms at home for the day and turned out in pink to raise money for Grimsby hospital.

They also took the plunge and took turns in bathing in pink custard, while one brave member of staff – customer advisor Helen Kyme - lost her locks to the clippers.

Staff at the Halifax, in Old Market Place Grimsby organised the fundraising day, which raised a massive £1,700 for the Pink Rose Suite.

The suite was chosen for its work in supporting local people with breast cancer, as one of the branch members is currently receiving treatment.

Assistant branch manager, Brian McMahon, said: “We had a great day fundraising for Pink Rose – it’s a charity close to our hearts as one of our colleagues is currently diagnosed with breast cancer, so all the staff got behind the cause. The customers were extremely generous in their donations and everyone had their own story to share with us.”

The Health Tree Foundation’s (HTF) community champion Lauren Alexander said: “We are extremely grateful to Halifax staff and all their customers for their support. I want to say a special thank you to Helen for braving the clippers. She looks fantastic.”

The HTF is the official charity for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. For more information about how you can help make a difference at your local hospital please contact Lauren Alexander on 03033 304514 or lauren.alexander@nhs.net
