Child-friendly night lights make it easier for my daughter Rose to sleep. Even if she’d rather stay up and talk about ponies!

Patient-and-Family rooms meant my husband Paul could stay overnight when I had surgery. I was so glad to have him with me. Even though he snored!

Halloween drive-in cinema to raise funds for A&E appeal
A spooky Halloween fright night drive-in cinema is coming to Scunthorpe to raise funds for our A&E appeal.
The huge outdoor screen will be showing two popular movies in the car park of The Sands Venue Stadium (Glanford Park) on Doncaster Road on Friday 29 October. It has been organised by Scunthorpe hospital’s official charity – the Health Tree Foundation (HTF).
Disney classic, Hocus Pocus, will be shown at 5pm and iconic slasher, Scream (18+ only), will be shown at 9pm.
There will be food stalls on the night including Jamie’s Sweet Emporium, Shaney’s Café (vegan option), Hepy’s Hog Roast and a popcorn cart, as well as a raffle and spooky surprises.
Our A&E appeal is led by HTF and aims to raise £70,000 for fantastic facilities at Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospitals (£35,000 per site).
These include:
Mobile gaming units and interactive floors to help keep our younger patients amused while they’re waiting to be seen
FREE mobile phone charging facilities to keep you entertained and in touch with your loved ones
Sky Inside artificial skylight panels to help provide a more pleasant focal point for patients in our pediatric and resuscitation cubicles
Screens which can be used as TVs and digital information screens.
Emma Hartley, Scunthorpe’s community champion for HTF, said: “I can’t wait for everyone to join us for our Halloween spooky cinema. It’s going to be a scream! All the funds raised will go directly towards our A&E appeal for Scunthorpe hospital. We will use this money to purchase additional enhancements to improve the patient experience when they use our Emergency Departments.”
Tickets are on sale now via the Eventbrite website. Prices for a car vary between £25 and £30 (plus booking fees). There are a number of limited early bird tickets available.
Please arrive an hour before the film starts to make sure everyone is parked up before it begins.
